Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to define the cognitive demand levels of high school mathematics questions included in the contents of a mathematics journal called Riyaziyad published during the Constitutional Monarchy Period along by using content analysis method and to contribute to the studies on scientific periodicals published in Turkey by analysing the journal. This study is a qualitative research and is limited to seven volumes of Riyaziyad journal published consecutively between the dates form 15 November 1911 and 01 May 1912. Document review method was used to collect data. Documents of seven volumes of Riyaziyad journal written in Ottoman Turkish were obtained from the National Library and translated to Turkish by an interpreter. Cognitive demand levels of hig school mathematics questions in the contents of seven volumes mentioned above were defined by using content analysis method.At the end of the study, it was concluded that high school mathematics questions in Riyaziyad were mostly at high level cognitive demands and journal contained almost no questions on the level of memorization cognitive demand.
