Abstract (EN)
Objective of this research is to survey the difference between present metaphysics and psychoanalysis knowledge level of art of the students of Department of Fine Arts Education in Art Teaching Field regarding Modernism and Postmodernism and knowledge level following training seminars and to evaluate the education they had in relation with this issue.In this research, experimental group preliminary test, last test experimental pattern and integrated method has been utilised. Integrated method is the researches where the quantitative and qualitative research techniques used together.153 students have participated in the research from Karadeniz Technical University Department of Fine Arts Section Art Teaching Field during 2011-12 Education-teaching spring term. This research has been realised by participation of formal and secondary education students and 2nd, 3rd and 4th class students from drawing and graphics department.In quantitative part of the research, a preliminary test with 26 questions has been applied in order to determine the knowledge level of the students regarding metaphysics and psychoanalysis in modernism and postmodernism art and interactive training seminars have been provided for three weeks in accordance with psychoanalytic criticism method on this issue. Last test has been applied after two weeks following the training seminars. After the preliminary and last test, focus groups with 7 students from 3rd and 4th classes have been constituted and discussions on the sufficiency of the education they had provided before training seminars and comparison of this with training seminars are requested. As 2nd class students who have joined to achievement test did not taken Art Critisism Course are not included to focus group discussions.Data collection tool (achievement test) forming the quantative dimension of the research and analysis of related sub problems is effectuated by SPSS program and data collection tool (focus group negotiation) has been realised by descriptive analysis.As a result when the art criticism course depending on traditional method (pedagogic art criticism) and training seminars (psychoanalytic art criticism) are compared, it is reached to the notion that the training seminars have affected the knowledge level of the students according to the improved achievement test. Additionally students stated that they have not found sufficient the Contemporary Art History and Art Criticism courses regarding their scope, instructor and method.In the light of the findings, the following proposals are made: modernist and post-modernist works of art shall be analysed through method of psychoanalytic criticism, use of technology in history of contemporary art and art criticism courses should be encouraged, the instructors teaching those lessons should be enlightened, and finally contemporary art criticism class, which would serve as a follow-up to art criticism course, should be developed and integrated into the schedule.
