Abstract (EN)
It is known that metaphor is a very speculative, personal and depth concept that will be the subject of discussion. This makes the definition of the concept of metaphor subjective. Although it is subjective in definition, the common opinion for the concept of metaphor is that it cannot be explained sufficiently with its simple way of thinking and it is possible only with a figurative way of thinking. In addition to this, in an effective metaphoric narrative, it is necessary to form a common thought and be understandable by all segments of society despite cultural differences rather than personal thought. When the definition of metaphor is made, evaluation is generally made on two types: "Verbal" (Linguistics) and "Visual" Metaphors. The differences between verbal and visual metaphors appear to be mainly due to differences in how these two modes are used in their respective fields and how they are intelligently expressed. However, despite these differences, both types of metaphors are interrelated. In this respect, metaphor is closely related to verbal and visual expression in both plastic and visual arts. Because the boundaries between disciplines and materials have disappeared in today's understanding of art, many artists have become manifest their artistic productions by making use of all fields of art. The most common visual metaphors in the art of ceramics are defined as meaningful figurative ideas and transferring concepts and images through symbols / indicators. Metaphor, which is regarded as the most influential of the metaphoric languages including concepts such as irony, analogy, allegory and metonymy in contemporary ceramic art, has been a concept frequently used by artists throughout the creation process. In the first part of this study, the definitions, formation processes, functions, types and reflections of the concept of metaphor in line with the ideas of different thinkers are examined. In the second part of the thesis, what kind of images and indicators are used in ceramic works within the scope of art history from past to today are examined, and the relation between these elements and the metaphorical messages given by the artists in the context of creativity are investigated. In the third part, personal practices based on the concept of "Mobbing" are included.
