Abstract (EN)

Weaving, nowadays with the technological advances and the resources of new materials, has turned into a tool of self-expression for the artists. Before the industrial revolution, woven textiles were produced to meet the needs of people, with the Arts and Crafts movement and Bauhaus school, the textile artists created artistic objects with new surfaces and forms using experimental methods. In the study of this thesis, the aim is to create innovative woven textiles using traditional weaving techniques combined with original weaving techniques utilizing metal materials. By integrating the possibilities of experimental work methods to the variable elements of weaving, dimensional and various surfaces and relief surfaces have been presented and discussed. This study consists of two main parts: Artistic Weavings Created with Metal Materials and Experimental Weavings and Application Studies using Metal Materials. The first chapter titled "Artistic Weavings Created with Metal Materials" includes sub-titles "Artistic Woven Textiles and Experimental Working Method in Weaving and Artistic Weavings Created with Metal Materials". The following topics are examined and discussed in the first chapter: (1) Use of the act of weaving as an artistic expression tool and the experimental approach that Bauhaus brought to the field of weaving, (2) concept of experimentation in the act of weaving, and (3) textile artists who create woven textiles as an art with metal materials. The second chapter titled "Experimental Weavings and Application Studies with Metal Materials" includes sub-headings of "Material, Method and Technique in Experimental Weaving Produced Using Metal Materials" and "Evaluation of Produced Experimental Weaving Studies for Technique and Design concepts". In the second chapter 17 artistic woven pieces were produced on 24 frame hand loom and these works were evaluated within the respect to technique and design.
