Abstract (EN)

This work; In order to investigate the effects of metal salts on surface decoration in hot glass forming methods. The aim, scope and method of this study, which consists of eight chapters, is explained in the introduction part. In the second part, the definition of glass and its chemical structure is mentioned. In the third part of the research, in the historical process from the discovery of glass to the present day; The Industrial Revolution, the Handicrafts Movement and the Studio Glass Movement are addressed. In the fourth part, which includes shaping methods in glass art, hot glass, cold glass, flame work and furnace forming methods are included. In the fifth part, glass decoration techniques are composed of two subheadings as hot and cold applications. In the sixth chapter, the definition and classification of the water-soluble metal salts are made, and their use in the field of art has been studied and the ceramic artists working with this technique have been examined. Nine different metal salts and chemicals used in the seventh section and eleven experimental work processes applied on glass plates were applied in order to investigate the effects of surface decor. In the last section, which is the personal applications, the effects of the decor and the artistic works that the researcher has obtained in the experimental processes on the subject of his thesis have been included. The metal salts used as surface decorations were discussed in the scope of hot glass forming methods and it was aimed to contribute to new decor usage possibilities.
