The effect of lactate dehydrogenase albumin ratio (LAO), systemic inflammatory index (SII) and prognostic nutritional index (PNİ) measured before treatment in metastatic prostate cancer on progression free survival and overall survival

Objectives: The aim of the study was to examine the relationship of hematological and biochemical parameters and indices created with these parameters with overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) in patients diagnosed with metastatic prostate adenocarcinoma before the first treatment. Matherial and Methods: Between January 1, 2011 and November 1, 2021; 83 patients who were diagnosed with prostate adenocarcinoma and treated and followed up in the Dokuz Eylül University Medical Oncology Department, had tissue biopsy, were found to be metastatic at the time of diagnosis, had no secondary malignancy, were older than 18 years, and whose laboratory parameters were registered before the first treatment were included. The data of the patients were analyzed retrospectively. Results: The effects of demographic data, clinical and pathological features, hematological and biochemical parameters and indices created with these parameters Lactat Dehydrogenase Albumin Ratio (LAR), Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR), Platelet Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR), Systemic Inflammatory Index (SII), Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) on OS and PFS were evaluated. Patients in the group of LAO≤56.5 have reached a better OS (57 months / 24 months) and better PFS. (40 months / 11 months) (p <0.05) Patients in the group with PNI>50 have reached better OS (94 months / 44 months) and better PFS (39 months / 15 months). (p <0.05) The relationship of NLR, PLR and SII indices with overall survival and progression-free survival was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Our findings show that LAO and SII scores calculated before treatment in patients with prostate adenocarcinoma can help clinicians in terms of prognosis prediction.
