Abstract (EN)
Drought, which is as important as in the past, has become a major problem in recent years for sustainable water resources management. Drought formation generally progresses slowly and its effect continues for long periods. This prolonged drought negatively affects the balance of nature. Animals and plants, especially in areas with arid climates, are adversely affected by the lack of moisture and the difference in precipitation per square meter. Within the scope of this thesis, drought analyzes were performed for Amasra, Bartın and Zonguldak stations located in the Western Black Sea Basin. In order to determine the characteristic features of drought events such as duration and severity, index methods were developed. detected using the methods. Meteorological droughts were determined for monthly, 3-month, 6-month and 12- month time periods in this study conducted for a 50-year period between 1970-2020. The characteristic features of droughts occurring in these time periods were revealed by using Run theory. As a result of the study, characteristic connections of meteorological droughts were determined. Keywords:drought, SPI, SPEI, Run theory, West Blacksea Basin
