Retrospective evaluation of daptomycin and linezolid resistance in methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

Abstract (EN)
Staphylococcus aureus is also known as the most important infectious agent of hospital origin and community origin. This bacterium, which causes serious infections, causes skin and soft tissue infections, bacteremia, respiratory system infections and urinary infections. Vancomycin antibiotic has been successfully used for many years in MRSA infections. In 1996, intermediate sensitivity to vancomycin was observed for the first time. A year later, a heterogeneous isolate of the first vancomycin-resistant S.aureus was introduced in Japan. MRSA strains are known to be resistant to all β-lactam group antibiotics. They also exhibit resistance to antibiotics such as aminoglycoside, tetracycline, linkosamide, quinolone. In recent years, resistance to glycopeptides has been observed. Therefore, the use of antibiotics such as daptomycin, linezolid and tigecycline has also begun in the treatment. It is seen that S.aureus bacterium with the resistance gained leads to a new search for many new antibiotics. In this study, we aimed to retrospectively evaluate the resistance states of daptomycin and linezolid in MRSA strains seen between 2012 and 2015 at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University Medical Faculty Hospital. We investigated the resistance of these bacterial strains, which were identified as MRSA, from which clinical and intensive care, which clinical material, from which sex patients were isolated, and their resistance to daptomycin and linezolid antibiotics. A total of 618 patients were studied. MRSA was observed in 130 of these 618 patients. These MRSA strains belong to 26 clinical and intensive care samples. The samples taken from the other 488 patients are various Staphylococcus species. According to the other factors, MRSA was calculated as 21,035%. MRSA cases from these samples; 2 abscesses, 3 sputum, 2 nose, 1 diabetic foot, 1 tissue, 9 urine, 53 blood, 1 ear, 26 tracheal aspirate and 32 wound. Of the 130 patients with MRSA, 83 were male and 47 were female. According to this, 63.84% male and 36.15% female patients were seen. In the study conducted on MRSA in 130 patients, Linezolid was resistant in 4 and linezolid sensitive in 126 cases. Daptomycin was resistant in 77 specimens and sensitive in 53 samples. In 53 patients who are sensitive to daptomycin, linezolid is also sensitive. 4 patients with linezolid resistance were also resistant to daptomycin. Of the 4 patients who were resistant to both Daptomycin and Linezolid antibiotics, one of the samples was wound and 3 were blood samples.
