The Architectural evaluation of metropolis in the light of findings of the Ares temple

SUMMARYTHE ARCHITECTURAL EVALUATION OF METROPOLIS IN THE LIGHT OF FINDINGS OFTHE ARES TEMPLEMetropolis city which has chosen the war god Ares as the head god, is one ofthe few Greek areas in Ionia Region. The question that has not been answered yet isthat why and in which conditions Metropolis city has chosen Ares as the protector ofthe city. One of the reasons of this study is to find an answer to this question. As thearchitectural findings in Ares temple is not much, the thesis is going on towards theculture of the God.In the Religions? History part of the thesis study, beginning process and thespread of the war god is being analysed. In Indian-European Communities, theplace and spread of this God is tried to be worked out. Also in this study, thediversity of the war god in different geographical areas, languages and differentcultural implementations is aimed to be emphasized. Especially the Ares culture inAnatolia is underlined. By the help of the inscriptions, coins and sculptor works, thisculture is aimed to be recognized.While the Ares culture in Metropolis city is being evaluated in the light ofcoins and inscriptions, the other Gods that had been worshipped in the city arementioned as well.Because of the lack of the architectural findings, some assumptions have beenmade about the shape of the Ares Temple which is in the Metropolis city. The cityhas been divided into angles according to the planning systems which the Akropolisis holy and it has been observed that 30° has connect the two doors. According to theknown datas, the temple has been tried to be settled to the most convenient place inthe Akropol location.
