Abstract (EN)
In this study, the focus has been on determining the earthquake security of the buildings that are in danger of earthquake. With that purpose, Japanese Siesmic Index method, which is acceptable worldwide, has been considered. This method is a system of 3 research levels. In the first and second level, we consider horizontal carrier systems. In the third level, we consider the capacity of horizontal carrier systems. The sample buildings referred in this study are the ones that were damaged by the earthquake in Sakarya in 1999. Sample Building is the one which is in Hendek in Sakarya of the rest house project. This building structural are either frame system, frame with shear wall system and shear wall system with short coloum. The last sample building is the one which is in Adapazarı in Sakarya. One of the approaches to make the buildings stronger for the earthquake is floor reduction. In that sample building, earthquake security is investigated depending on the number of floors. With the help of Japanese Seismic Index Method, the seismic performance of the building has been investigated in case the number of floors is 3,4,5 or 6. In these researches, the first level is used and EXCEL program is used in calculation.Key words: Japan Seismic Index Method, reinforced concrete, floor reduction, building security, earthquake.
