Abstract (EN)
As the world population increases, high-rise buildings are being most frequently used especially in big cities. This situation forces the scientist to investigate the real behavior of high-rise buildings subjected to lateral and vertical load cases. The first natural vibrational period is a very important parameter for the dynamic behavior of the buildings. As the rigidity of the structure decreases and its period increases, the lateral loads (earthquake, wind) carried by the structural elements will decrease. For high-rise buildings, the period is not the only and effective parameter that affects the horizontal loads. Since the displacements in these structures are very high, the second order effects (P-Delta effects) must be taken into account. In a structure, the vertical load points will move due to lateral loads and the structure will be subjected to second order loads. These loads are known as P ? ? loads and they are very effective in static analysis. In this thesis, P-Delta effects due to the wind loads are investigated for a sample high-rise building. The structural system was modeled in Sap 2000-v10 software. The results are compared with the requirements of TS-500/2000 design code.
