Abstract (EN)

The earthquake movement and earthquake resistant structural design principles taking places on regulations of many countries on structural engineering are constitutes an important place in the regulation in Our Country. It is expected in Our Country that the structural reliability increases especially with "Specification for Structures to be built in Earthquake Areas-2007 (SSBEA-2007)" that goes in to operation in 2007 and tackles the matter very seriously compared to the previous earthquake regulations. The earthquake motion can be described shortly as impulses on ground and basis of building caused by fault movements. Non-periodic vibrations in the base caused by the impulses produce very complex deformations (rotation and displacement) and internal forces. The Specification tries to solve the problem of occurring cumulative damage (rotations) on vibrating buildings and it one of the parameters providing the emergence of the modern methods of seismic analysis. In earthquake engineering, Performance-based design method is used to determine the level of expected performance of the structure under earthquake. In this study, the performance of the existing reinforced concrete shear wall buildings are determined by non-linear analysis methods defined in Seismic Code. There are two existing buildings that are subject of this study. The building in Bingöl is defined as Model-1, and the one in Gümüşhane is defined as Model-2. Model-1 was collapsed in Bingöl earthquake in 2003. Model-2 is an existing building came into use in 2013.The performance of Model 1 is decided by analyzing with incremental equivalent seismic load method and nonlinear dynamic time history analysis. Three different earthquake acceleration records are used for nonlinear dynamic time history analysis for two models. These are Adana Ceyhan, 1998, Bingöl 2003, and Van 2011 earthquake acceleration records. Only nonlinear dynamic time history analysis is used in Model-2 to decide performance of the structure. As a result of the analysis, nonlinear dynamic time history analysis results are taken into account to determine the performance of Model-1. According to the analysis with incremental equivalent seismic load method, performance level is life safety, and according to nonlinear dynamic time history analysis, the performance level is collapsed. For the selected earthquakes, performance level of Model-2 is determined as collapsed. Key Words: Earthquake Acceleration Records, Nonlinear Time History Analysis, Shear Wall Structures, Performance Analysis, Pushover Analysis
