Mezotelyomali olgularda 3BKRT ve IMRT sonuçlarinin karşilaştirilmasi

Mesothelioma is a name of a tumour originated from pleura which is a layer of lung and the structures around the lung. There are three main purposes to be used the radiotherapy for the treatment of mesothelioma cancer as one of the techniques. First one is the purpose of palliative treatment, second one is to prevent the tumour's local dissemination and the third one is to provide it to be used with a combination of surgery and chemotherapy. The purpose of the study is to practice to clinical routine by showing the treatability of mesothelioma cancer patients with IMRT technique and, therefore to supply to be increased their life qualities. In the study, new plans of 10 mesothelioma cancer patients planned by IMRT technique were created and evaluated who were treated by three dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) between 2009 - 2016 in Çukurova University, Department of Radiation Oncology. Dose values of exposed critical organs and defined target volumes of mesothelioma cancer were determined as Gray (Gy) and the ablicability of IMRT technique into clinical routine was evaluated. In this purpose, 5 field IMRT plans were applied toeach patient with 30 Gy and it was observed that the dose values of heart, contralateral lung, osephagus, and spinal cord which were defined as critical organs were in tolerance limits. Besides, minimum and maximum dose values of the target volumes of IMRT plans were in agreement with ICRU criterias and were found as having advantages by comparing with 3DCRT plan results. Consequently, defined dose to target volume was applied totally while the doses of critical organs were decreased as a purpose of IMRT technique so it was found out that the life quality of the patients could be increased. It was shown that IMRT technique could be applied in clinical routine for the treatment of malign mesothelioma cancer patients.
