Abstract (EN)
Objective: The study has two different aims. The first is that by giving extended emergency trauma ultrasonography training to undergraduate medical school students, they can diagnose and treat patients competently using ultrasound when they graduate. The second aim is to provide a better understanding of trauma assessment by using ultrasonography as an educational aid in trauma assessment training in the emergency department. Method: Our work consists of two stages. The first phase is planned as an experimental training study that includes pre-test and post-test. The second stage is organized as the evaluation of theoretical and practical trainings with multiple choice test exam and practice exam. After the training, they were asked to fill out a satisfaction questionnaire. Results: The study group consisted of a total of 66 fifth grade students. 47% of the students are male, 53% are female. While the pre-test score of the study group was 84.55, the post-test score was 92.12. 94.9 from multiple-choice exam, 93.6 from DOPS, 88.24 from written exam, 91.4±5.3 from oral exam, 89.7± from internship score 5.7. While the pre-test mean score of the students was 84.6±19.2, the post-test mean score increased to 92.1±18.5. There is a statistically significant difference between the two means. All of the students scored 60 and above in the multiple-choice test after the ultrasonography training. Likewise, in the practice exam held after the training, all of the students scored above 60. Conclusion: This study showed that undergraduate medical school students are ready for ultrasonography education in terms of knowledge and skills and revealed that the use of ultrasonography as an educational assistant in clinical internships in undergraduate medical school education increases the interest and satisfaction in the education given and provides deep learning.
