The effects of leaf removal and cluster thinning at different times on grape growth, yield, quality and next year bud productivity of cv. Michele Palieri

This research was conducted in Tekirdag-Karaevli village, between 41° 01'11.41"N ve 27°39'49.14"E coordinates in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 periods. Michele Palieri/110R grafting combination was used as a plant materialin. The aim of research was determination of the effects of cluster thinning and leaf removal on grape growth, yield, quality and bud fertility. The were 3 different application periods [Berry Set (BS), Bunch Closure (BC), Veraison (V)] and 4 different applications [(i) Control (C), (ii) No Leaf Removal-Cluster Thinning (NLR-CT), (iii) Leaf Removal-No Cluster Thinning (LR-NCT), (iv) Leaf Removal-Cluster Thinning (LR-CT)] in the research. In terms of shoot characteristics, it has been found that the vegetative and generative development is balanced. Shoot characteristics has been effected in V period by using NLR-CT treatment and C. It has been determined that there are periodic differences in terms of grain properties, and LR-CT and NLR-CT have positive effects in practice. Cluster characteristics were improved by NLR-CT application in BC period. Grape juice characteristics has been effected positively by using the NLR-CT application in Verasion. Cluster thinning reduced efficiency as expected. Bud fertility for Michele Palieri, NLR-CT application in BS period in Tekirdag province is proposed.
