Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to examine wedding traditions in Midyat town in Mardin City in terms of people' opinions living in region. 38 individuals living in Midyat town participated to study. 126-questions questionnaire form, which was prepared by researcher by taking into consideration actual information about region and literature, were used in study. Questionnaire which was used as data collection material was filled via face to face meeting method with individuals who are sample group. Concrete data concerning wedding tradition in Midyat town by making interpretation content of participants' answers to questionnaire were obtained. Frequency analysis in SPSS 22.0 for Windows package program was used in identification of participant' distributions as demographic aspects. In result of study, traditions concerning activities doing before marriage, wedding period and after wedding were revealed in the light of opinions of individuals living in Midyat town. In this context, concrete data about marrying of types, marriage age – marriage period, express marriage demand, before wedding, fortune opening, bride/groom selection, matchmaking/father-mother in love-asking/look female, betrothal/ dessert eating, badge-engagement, wedding, dowry, henna night, main wedding (taking bride/taking landing), nuptial and bridal, done after wedding and veil application were produced. It in thought that results obtained in the end of research contribute to inform of society concerning wedding traditions and introduction of region.
