Özet (EN)
This thesis aims to comprehensively analyze the chemical composition and production techniques of traditional filigree jewelry, which has been crafted for many years in the Midyat district of Mardin province. The primary objective of the study is to identify the elements present in the filigree jewelry produced in Midyat and to reveal the historical development and current status of this art form. In this context, X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (XRF) was utilized to determine the elemental composition of the filigree jewelry. The XRF method enabled the detection of major elements such as silver, copper, and silicon, as well as trace elements within the jewelry. The analyses were conducted in a filigree workshop in Midyat, examining 50 different filigree products. For each product, approximately 35-second analysis periods were established, and the results were recorded with high precision. The data revealed that Midyat filigree consists of 85.1% silver, 10.3% copper, and 1.5% silicon. Additionally, a strong negative correlation between copper and silver elements was identified. These findings provide significant insights into the purity of the materials used in the production of filigree jewelry and the evolution of this art over time. In conclusion, this study holds great importance for the preservation, development, and transmission of the Midyat filigree art to future generations. Furthermore, this research serves as a reference point for future studies in this field.
