Abstract (EN)

This study which deals with Muhallamiyyah-Arabic spoken in Midyat, examines the language features of this dialect, oral literature, vocabulary, etymology and its interaction with other languages. This study including introduction consists of four parts. In the introduction, aims, sources and main principles are given. I studied, in the first part, the definition of language, the number of the languages, language families, dialects and dangers that languages are exposed to and measures to be taken. The second part is about the some scientific datas on the history of Mardin, so I tried to make this study based on solid foundations. The third part is dedicated to Muhallamiyyah-Midyat Arabic dialect, which is the basic subject. Here, I studied the similarities and differences of this dialect compared with fluent Arabic, depending some cases of oral literature, thereby I reassessed the relation of Midyat regional Arabic to fluent Arabic. During this study, many samples of oral folk literature have been recorded as voice recording and they have been attached to the study and put referrence, so it was prepared to be listened via digital medium.
