Abstract (EN)
2. ABSTRACTEVALUATION OF VASCULAR PHYSIOLOGIC CHANGES ONMIGRAINE WITH TRANSCRANIAL DOPPLER ULTRASONOGRAPHYMigraine is an episodic headache which chacterized with neurological, gastrointestinal and autonomic changes. Cerebrovascular factors and hemodynamicchanges has an important role on migraine? s pathophysiology. Transcranial doppler(TCD) is a noninvasive, basic and inexpensive imaging method. TCD is used toevaluate major intracranial vessels. Previous studies with TCD include functionaltests, meningitis, migraine and evaluation of posttraumatic hemodynamics. In thisstudy, we aimed to evaluate cerebral vascular changes in migraine which formedphysiological hyperoxia and hypercapnia. In our study; mean age was 38 (16-54), 51 patients with migraine (4 man, 47women) and mean age was 30.5 (22-42), 24 healthy individuals included (14 man,10 women), Middle cerebral artery (MCA), superficial temporal artery (STA) andophtalmic artery (OA) were evaluated in rest, hyperventilation, rest afterhyperventilation and breath holding situations. Pulsatility index (PI), mean velocity(Vmean), peak systolic velocity (Vmax) and end diastolic velocity (Ved) weremeasured. In MCA; Vmax, Ved and PI values in rest, hyperventilation and breathholding conditions showed statistically significant difference between control groupand migraine. In OA; Vmean, Vmax, Ved and PI values in rest, hyperventilation, rest after hyperventilation and breath holding conditions showed statisticallysignificant difference between control group and migraine. In STA; PI values inbreath holding condition showed statistically significant difference between controlgroup and migraine. The cases of migraine, there was significant difference withMCA of rest to hyperventilation, rest after hyperventilation and breath holding, withOA rest to hyperventilation and breath holding, with STA of rest to breath holding.TCD is a basic, noninvasive method which can be used for diagnosis andpost-treatment follow up of cerebral pathologies that effect cerebrovascularstructures like migraine. n our study explanes, etiology of migraine is performedcerebrovascular patophysiologic event.Key Words: Transcranial Doppler US, Migraine, Middle Cerebral Artery, OphtalmicArtery, Superficial Temporal Artery
