Abstract (EN)
It is known that Mihalıççık District has a great potential with the area it covers, landforms, climate, water resources and agricultural lands. Mihalıççık District is located in the Upper Sakarya Section of the Central Anatolia Region, southeast of the Sündiken Mountains. Agroclimatology, which is the subject of our study, is an interdisciplinary science that emerged by considering agricultural geography, a sub-branch of human geography, and climatology, a sub-branch of physical geography, together. In this study titled The Relationships Between Agricultural Activities and Climate in Mihalıççık District (Eskişehir), the agricultural climatology research of Mihalıççık District of Eskişehir was carried out. While conducting the research, physical geography elements and human events that have an impact on agriculture were discussed. It is known that Mihalıççık District has a great potential with the area it covers, landforms, climate, water resources and agricultural lands. The main purpose of this research is that this potential is not evaluated within the framework of agricultural climatology in the district. The region is within the Black Sea and Central Anatolia regions. While the continental climate prevails in the south of the district, the effect of the Black Sea climate is seen in the north, albeit slightly. The temperatures coming after the humid and cold weather in the region harm the agricultural activities. The reason for this is that with the increase in temperature, the moisture suddenly disappears and the plants cannot adapt to the temperature immediately in their vegetative period. In terms of agricultural activities, it is seen that the amount of precipitation decreases in summer and autumn. A xeric climate prevails in the summer months. Evaporation from soil and plant surfaces due to lack of water poses the problem of drought. The fact that the expected precipitation in the district does not decrease in the autumn months brings the danger of agricultural drought. The lack of precipitation required before fertilization negatively affects the vegetative period. Changes in the climatic conditions from year to year in Mihalıççık district, the loss of moisture in the soil due to extreme temperatures, and the low and irregular precipitation lead to the need to reorganize the sowing-planting periods. It has been concluded that the sowing-planting times learned from the ancestors in the past have actually changed, and the reason for this is that these periods should be changed for the temperature and precipitation needed with the change of climates, through cooperatives or by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, to inform the farmers.
