Abstract (EN)

The main aim of this study is to determine the effects of welding Miilux Protection 600 armor steel with ER 110 SG and ER 307Si welding wire, stress relief annealing and heat treatment processes applied in addition to welding on mechanical properties, and to analyze the obtained data comparatively. In this study, Miilux Protection 600 armor steel was subjected to gas MIG welding using two different welding wires, ER 110 SG and ER 307Si. Test samples were prepared by applying stress relief annealing to some of the samples obtained by welding with two different welding wires and by applying the quenching process to the others. Liquid penetrant and ultrasonic testing were performed as non-destructive testing tests, and hardness, tensile, notch impact tests and microstructure examination were performed as destructive testing tests. Due to the low C% content of the ER 110 SG and ER 307Si welding wires used in the welding process of armor steel, post-weld heat treatment does not increase hardness. In cases where the carbon content is insufficient, the martensite microstructure transformation that provides increased hardness cannot be achieved during heat treatment. Therefore, it has been determined that stress-relieving and conditioning heat treatment processes for low-carbon weld metals do not increase mechanical properties.
