Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY THE SOLUBILITY OF MILAS BAUXITE ORE IN SULPHURIC ACID SOLUTION Key words: Bauxite, alumina, calcination, solubility, solubility kinetics. It is expected that in our country the amount of bauxite reserve is approximately 430 million tons. Nearly 23 million tons of the bauxite reserve is diaspontic kind bauxite ore, and can be found at Mugla-Milas. In this study, the solubility of Göbekdagı bauxite ore in sulphuric acid solution is examined. Calcination temperature and time, sulphuric acid concentration solubility temperature and time parameters were investigated for the studies of solubility with 200 mesh particle size ore samples at atmospheric conditions and without an additive substances. In the light of the foregoing studies, it has been seen that an efficient solubility was attained at 873 K calcination temperature and 3 hours long calcination time was enough. The effect of H2S04 concentration on solubility was investigated for the samples prepared at these conditions. A 8 M H2S04 solution concentration was found to be proper. At 403 K temperature and 3 hours long process gave a 40% solubility ratio. At the kinetic examination stage of the results obtained from the solubility studies, it was evaluated that the solubility was dependent on diffusion at the product layer. And activation energy was calculated to be 71.458 kJ/mol for this solubility kinetic expression. XI
