Abstract (EN)

Milas is the regional center of Muğla. The city was respectively ruled by Carians, Persians, Romans, Byzantines, and Turks. Until 1261 Roman empire ruled the city, later passing it onto Menteşeoğulları Principality and at 1424 the city became a part of the Ottoman empire. In 1923, with the Republic's proclamation, Milas became a district of Muğla. The city houses many cultural assets. Hisarbaşı Hoca Bedrettin neighborhood is a central region at Milas which is enriched with many historical buildings and archeological heritages. Uzunyuva museum which embodies the sanctuary Maosoluem of Hecatomnus, Çöllüoğlu Inn, Belen and Ulu mosques are some important buildings and structures at the region. The neighborhood was observed with a site study and literature reviews. Some buildings were observed to be restored while some were identified to be neglected. Overall, the region was detected to be unmaintained. The neglected historical neighborhood was analysed in order to vitalize the region and provide proper protection to the historical remnants and areas. The physical and social structure of Milas and Hisarbaşı Hoca Bedrettin neighborhood was studied. Documented and historically important buildings and structures were identified. Analysis including, Solid-void, environmental, urban value's, functional, number of floors, structural and structural condition were prepared. After the analysis study, the detected problems and powers were evaluated in the scope of a S.W.O.T analysis. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats were identified in order to provide accurate protection to the historical value's. Lastly, with respect to all the analysis conducted, proposals were made for the neighborhood. The neighborhood was evaluated both in Urban and Architectural context.
