Analysis of the relation between the success of the teachers on the Ministry of National Education 2005 teaching career steps promotion exam and their organizational attachment (istanbul sample)

Abstract (EN)

This research had been made to determine whether there is a relationship between the success of the teachers, studying in primary and high public schools, and who had taken the exam of Teaching Career Steps Promotion 2005 and level of their organizational attachment. Relational scanning model has been used in the research. 350 teachers who had taken the exam of MNE Teaching Career Steps Promotion 2005, and are studying in 93 public primary and high school in Istanbul, formed the sample of the research. Personal information form and the scale of organizational attachment were applied to teachers. The analysis of the information obtained in the research was made in computer environment by using SPSS 15 pocket programme. Findings were presented in table forms.In the result of the research it was founded out that there is no relation between the success of the teachers, studying in public primary and high schools, who had taken the exam of Teaching Career Steps Promotion 2005 and level of their organizational attachment and that it is independent from emotional and normative attachment for sub-dimensions of organizational attachment. In addition, it was put forth that teachers, whose continuity attachment are high, have been less successful than other teachers in the exam of teaching career steps promotion.When personal characteristics and TCSP exam results of the teachers were compared, it was founded out that there are no differences among the variables of civil status, age, type of the education institution, branch, level of education, professional seniority, the status of working on another job, whether their spouse work or not and status of job choice while there are significant differences among the variables of sex, desire to change job, perception about the sufficiency of wage and attaining in-service training.When organizational attachment level of participating teachers´ main and sub-dimensions (in terms of emotional, continuity and normative attachment) were compared with their personal characteristics, it was resulted that there exists statistically significant difference among the variables of sex, civil status, age, type of education institution, branch, professional seniority, desire to change job, perception about the sufficiency of wage, status of job choice and attaining in-service training while no significant differences are determined among level of education, having a second job and whether their spouse work or not.
