National security strategy in terms of the period of Turkish-Syrian relations Hafez al-Assad (1970-2000)

In the last century it has been recognized that globalisation, which is the most important economic and political case, has affected all the countries. This effect has constantly been giving shape to National Security Strategies. After it was under domination of the Otoman Empire for a long time, the middle east became colonies of the western countries and afterwords, as a result of the oundries that those colonial powers charted, new states came out. One of those is Syria. Between Turkey and Syria, the leading and basic disagreements, through the viewof strategies and boundary disputes, are the disagreements on the issues of Hatay Province, wather, the existence of the Turkish minority in Syria and terrorism. These main subjests mostly make up the basic titles of the thesis. In order to understand the issues mentioned above, after the history of Syria, the ethnic and economic structure, curriculum vitae of Hafez Essad, his taking over the Office, his view on administration, the ideology of Baas Party, Geopolitics and National Security Strategies have been dealt with, it is possible to analyse on the matter of water, boundary and terrorism. The terrorism trump that Syria has been using and supporting since 1970s has many times put the two countries on the brink of war. Until 2000, lack of confidence between the two countries continually led to conflicts. This study has been carried out for the purpose of researching the matters between Turkey and Syria in the view of Geopolitics and Geostrategy and analysing regional events.
