Eastern Çukurova during the National Struggle

The history of the National Struggle in Eastern Çukurova, which started with the Armistice of Mondros, had an important place in the War of Independence. The activities of the Armenians in the Eastern Çukurova region, which was the first front to be occupied by the Entente and the first to be liberated from enemy occupation, the reflection of the French-Armenian cooperation on the Turks, the resistance movements put forward selflessly by the Kuva-yı Milliye, and the liberation of the region from enemy occupation with the Ankara Treaty of Alliance are reconsidered with archival documents. In short, this study aims to draw the road map of Eastern Çukurova during the National Struggle in the light of the documents rather than the war balance sheet of the region. Mustafa Kemal Pasha took into account the armed organizations that emerged with the occupation of Çukurova, the geographical features of the region and the occupation areas of the Entente states and divided Adana into two different regions and formed the Kuva-yı Milliye organization and the responsibility for the local organization of the area east of the Seyhan River was given to the Eastern Çukurova Kuva-yı Milliye Command. In addition, the Eastern Çukurova Commander, who was a captain, was given the nickname "Aydınoğlu Tufan" in order to strengthen the struggle with military-civilian solidarity. While national organizations were formed for the regions liberated from the enemy occupation with the Law Societies of Mudafaa-i Hukuk, on the other hand, food and communication activities were carried out for the French-occupied provinces.
