Religious policies of The Nationalist Movement Party (Alparslan Türkeş Period)

In this work, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), a political party that embraces the idea of Turkish Nationalism, uses the concepts of state, nation, country, leader, organization, doctrine in the projection of historical cultural codes, along with the sacred interactions of the concepts, modern Nationalism - religious policies produced in the religious system are discussed. By analyzing doctrinal expansions of MHP, it is aimed to make sense of religious policies through theoretical grounding; thus, it is aimed to contribute to the sociology of religion in terms of the interaction of society and religion. In the intellectual background, the ideas of Muslim thinker Ibn Haldun, the Ottoman intelligentcia Namik Kemal, Western political theorists Machiavelli and Hegel, together with the ideas of Contemporary Turkish thinkers, have been derived from the theory of Turkish Nationalism. These inferences were used in the analysis of the principle of Morality and the formulation of the Turkish Islamic Country within the scope of the Nine Light doctrine of MHP, which is one of the focuses of the study. By examining the totem theory of Durkheim with the inferences of the Galaxy, it was tried to obtain a resolvable template by using determinations for ontological reality of the communities in the religious context. Using this template, the social psychological relationship network between the members of the Nationalist community and the community, which meets the religious theme, is explained. In particular, the religious-ideological legitimacy crises experienced in the MHP organization after the 1980 coup were tried to be solved. The other focus of the study was two important ideological breaks in the Party and, nevertheless, the ideological and political position taken by the MHP. The data obtained by the source scan were analyzed in the whole thesis using the comprehensive method revealed by Dilthey and divided into three different periods. Accordingly, it is seen that MHP has been directed towards a cultural Nationalism including religious element since its establishment. It is understood that it has tried to institutionalize Turkish Islamic understanding throughout the 1970's. It is closed with the coup of 1980, After its re-establishment in 1993, it can be said that it arbitrates statist Nationalist policies and suppresses the religious element towards the theoretical field.
