Özet (EN)
In parallel to the developments in computer technology, it has become inevitable to use new representation mediums and forms of representation production in order to increase production and efficiency in the field of architecture. In this developmental process, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality representation mediums have come into sight and become used in architecture. The forms of representation production in these medium types offer experiences beyond the ability of users to observe photo-realistic images or computer-aided animations via computer monitors. While the Virtual Reality presents the 3D and immersive medium to the user through the head-mounted display, in Augmented Reality types in which equipment head-attached and hand-held are used the virtual world is integrated with the physical space. Among all these types, the Spatial Augmented Reality type, in which the projectors are used, is entirely different from others regarding the viewers' way of using the medium. In the Spatial Augmented Reality medium, no equipment connected to the body of the user is used, and the user with the naked eye can monitor the integration of the virtual object with the physical space. Because of these features that Spatial Augmented Reality environment has; it is used in a lot of fields such as installations and theatrical shows. In the historical process of architecture a variety of 3D techniques are continually being developed in the use of perspective drawings and models, and nowadays in digital representations. This historical process shows how important the use of 3D representation is for architecture. Spatial Augmented Reality medium which is used in many fields give the impression of a powerful 3D sensation that can be seen with the naked eye, and it is the essential factor for the use of this representation in architecture. This representation medium, which is often used with the concept of "Projection Mapping" in studies written in English, is called "Projeksiyon Kaplama" in this study because of the basic features examined in detail in the thesis. In addition, this thesis explains the process and methods of the viewer to experience the 3D impression together with an interaction type. At the first stage of this study; comparative definitions of these types have been made to determine the difference and the positions of the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality mediums among multimedia types. Afterwards, the position of the Projection Mapping among all these types is explained. At the second stage of this study; the concept of representation and the types of representation used in architecture are discussed and comparisons of multimedia types are made by making necessary classifications. At the third stage of this study; the history of Projection Mapping and the components of the Projection Mapping technique were examined in 3 subtitles as technical, physical and virtual. Then the interaction with this technique and the areas where the technique is used are discussed. At the fourth stage of this study; with the technical and hypothetical infrastructure obtained from the studies made in the previous chapters, the implementation process and methods are explained by way of a sample practice in architecture with regard to confirming the hypothesis and purposes. At the fifth stage of this study; general results of the thesis and the foresight for the future studies are explained.
