Abstract (EN)

This study was created in order to understand what architecture is, to determine its structural features and to determine what the value of architectural structures consists of. The method used in making these inquiries is philosophical thought. The views of architects, philosophers and many theorists from other disciplines related to the subject were examined, and the problem was tried to be reconstructed on the existing ideas. It is aimed to produce an explanation model by bringing a new approach to the problem. In the light of the produced model, the importance of the concepts of design, space and time has been determined. Unlike formalism, which says that form alone is valuable in art and architecture, and functionalism, which says that function alone is valuable, the importance of the concept of design, which establishes the integrity of usability and aesthetics, is mentioned. Thus, it has been determined that architectural production takes place by producing material from matter, function from material, form from function, and space from form. In this context, space production is discussed as the final stage of architectural production. It was asked what the space was, and the differences between the architectural space and other space types were investigated. By questioning where the function is in the space and where the beauty is, it is thought about the spatial value of an architectural structure together with its functional and aesthetic value. On the other hand, many inquiries such as the physical destruction of architectural works over the years, the change of architectural designs over the ages depending on understandings and demands, and the traces that buildings leave in the memories of people and societies have pointed out the importance of the concept of time as well as space. For this reason, together with the concept of time in architecture, which is discussed after the space in architecture, it is aimed both to establish the integral structure of the work and to establish the basic infrastructure of the architectural philosophy relationship by addressing this questioning, which has not been sufficiently considered. Key Words: Architecture, design, space, time, aesthetic, form, function, value.
