Abstract (EN)

The effect of minimum quantity lubricating method on machinability of AISI 304 stainless steel In machining industries, the types and usage method of cutting fluids have a crucial importance among machining parameters due to their lubrication, cooling and chip removal properties. However use of the cuting fluid has become more problematic in terms of employee health, environmental pollution and lubricant costs. Thus , in last years the content and minimalization of usage of cutting fluids heva been reserach subjects. In this study, the effect minumum quantity lubrication method on machinability of AISI 304 stainless steel were investigated in terms of three different cooling methods namely, dry, conventional wet end MQL experimentally. In experments, cutting speed (V =125, 150, 175 m/min), feed rate (f =0.1, 0.15, 0.2 mm/rev) and depth of cut (a = 0.75, 1.0, 1.25 mm) were choosen based on related literature and the relative effects of these parameters were evaluated on surface quality and tool wear. Consequently, although similar results were observed in three cooling methods in trems of surface quality too, tool wear and the consumption of cutting fluid decreased in minumum quantity lubrication method significantly Key Words: Lubrication methods, Surface roughness, Cutting tool, Cutting tool wear
