Abstract (EN)

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has emerged as a global health crisis, with diverse manifestations extending beyond respiratory illness. The aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the effect of COVID-19 on liver function, encompassing clinical observations, and pathophysiological mechanisms. The study was a case-control design that included 130 participants divided into 60 patients diagnosed covid-19 infections compared to 60 healthy participants according to lever functions parameter in Al-Maymouna General Hospital In Misan Governorate. The COVID-19 positive status was confirmed by RT-PCR analysis of nasal swab samples in the Department of Virology, following standard operating procedures the main results The study suggests that their significant increase in liver enzyme among covid-19 patients compared to the healthy control group at P.value <0.05 comparison between male's patient of covid-19 with males healthy control groups the study found their significant increase in liver enzyme among covid-19 patient higher than the healthy control group at P.value <0.05 the study found that there was a positive correlation between COVID-19and AST, ALT, and GGT at p.value <0.05 while the negative correlation between COVID-19with Total protein and Albumin at p. value <0.05 Keyword : COVID-19 ,corona virus ,liver disease, liver damage ,sars-covid 2
