Abstract (EN)

In this study, the Cherenkov counters in the BLAST spectrometer at the MIT Bates linear accelerator is introduced. The internal structure and working principles of the Cherenkov detectors used in the spectrometer are described. How the Cherenkov detector fullfills its duty of discriminating the scattered electrons from pions is briefly explained. Efficiency of each Cherenkov counter is determined by fitting the Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) spectrum to the Poisson function. In the end, the results are compared with the result of the so-called TOF method.Key Words: MIT Bates Laboratory, BLAST, Cherenkov Detector, TOF sicintilators, ADC spectrum analysis, Phototubes
