Abstract (EN)

Nobles, demigod kings and princes have always occupied the throne of imaginary stories, the heroes of tales and myths, which people have built for long ages. The first heroes of the common stories of man; The main characters of the Greek Tragedies were deemed worthy of being heroes as they were seen close to the power of the god, such as the Persian Kings and the tyrannical leaders of Babylon. Another strong possibility is that they bring into being the qualities that a person deems lacking in himself and that he wishes to have in himself, through these noble people who have good eyes. Throughout the long ages, heroes have scarcely descended to the ranks of ordinary people. Cinema has played an important role in changing and transforming this phenomenon. By normalizing the 'character', it has paved the way for it to be understood and perceived more easily, thus establishing its connection with reality. The aim of this thesis is to compare the 'hero' and 'character' phenomena; To make a comparison between the supernatural, god, demigod, fantastic and noble heroes of myth myths and the characters of Hirokazu Kore-eda films, which have managed to normalize and ordinaryize the characters of the important directors of contemporary Japanese cinema. Based on the findings of psychoanalysis and structuralism on this subject, it is aimed to reveal the analyzes of some facts and to reveal the findings of the alleged transformation and change. Findings such as memory, birth, death, rebirth, initiation, hero or character transformations will be analyzed in the context of myth and cinema (Korean-eda films). Key Words: Myth, Magic, Heroism, Birth and Rebirth, Cinema, Character Creation, Myth and Cinema, Meaning Making, Hirokazu Kore-eda's Cinema
