The impact of exposure to mobbing on burnout syndrome: A case study on the furniture industry

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine the exposure of employees to mobbing and burnout syndrome in the furniture industry, which is a labour-intensive sector and where the staff turnover rate is relatively higher. The population of the study is the employees of an enterprise working in the furniture industry in Bursa Province, İnegöl District. The enterprise has 263 employees and a total of 260 employees could be reached. Interviews were conducted with the employees participating in the study after the necessary permissions were obtained by the enterprise and the mobbing scale was used to measure the mobbing levels and the Maslach Burnout scale was used to measure the burnout level. In addition, personal information forms were used to conduct research on demographic structure. IBM SPSS Statistics 22 and AMOS 24 programmes were used for data analysis. As a result of the normality test, it was determined that the data were normally distributed by looking at the skewness and kurtosis values. Due to this normal distribution, Anova test and t tests were performed. In addition, explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses, reliability analysis, correlation analyses, regression analyses and structural equation model were used to test the hypotheses. In the study, it was concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between burnout and mobbing and there are significant and positive relationships between burnout and sub-dimensions of mobbing.
