Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the use of mocap (motion capture) technology, which is used to transfer motion data to digital, in 3Dimesional (3D) face animations is investigated. With Mocap Technology in 3Dimensional animation, the movements are transferred from real life to virtual actors, providing us with more realistic images without exaggeration. In this way, photorealistic characters obtained in the virtual environment and motion data transferred in accordance with the laws of physics reveal photorealistic moving images in 3Dimensional animation. Within the scope of this thesis, which includes the technical and visual analysis of facial expressions that plays an important role in the transfer of emotions in animation and can be transferred to virtual actors with 3Dimensional mocap technology, an answer is sought to the questions of the importance of facial animations in emotion transfer in animation and why the use of Motion Capture technology in facial animations is needed. The aim of this thesis is to contribute to the literature by examining the studies on the use of motion capture technology in facial animations created with 3Dimensional production technique, which plays an important role in expression and emotion transfer. Various findings are obtained from the interviews with the designers and analysis of selected movie characters within the scope of the thesis, these findings are examined, evaluated and concluded.
