Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of model eliciting activities on seventh grade students' academic achievement and reveal their views about these activities. A total of 47 seventh grade students 23 students in experimental group and 24 students in control group students from a public school in Bolu participate in the study Research is carried out according to mixed method design. While qualitative part of research made with pre-posttest control group semi-experimental design, quantitative part of research studied with case study. Quantitative data was collected with standard achievement test that was collected from lesson book and other books which access is easy for students. The resulting data analyzed with the help of statistical analysis programs. In analyze of qualitative data used that t test which is one of the parametric tests. Quantitative data was collected with video recordings from interview, students' worksheets, observation forms and students' opinion form filled by students after each activity. Quantitative data was analyzed with descriptive analysis method. During this study, while experiment group and control group continue normal education, additive lessons presented to experiment group with model eliciting activities. As a result, students expressed that model eliciting activities are hard, demanding, enjoyable and pleasurable. Model eliciting activities over the students' success on standard achievement test was found a statistically significant difference in favor of experimental group. Key Words: Model eliciting activities, mathematical modelling, modelling, success, students' view
