Abstract (EN)

In this study, 1 hour rainfall simulation was performed by using the 25 years return period of rainfall data for Adana province.157 hectares of land in the Hayal Park basin of Çukurova district, which has a high level of urbanization and which was a river stream in the past, was separated into 122 subcatchments and designated as working area. PCSWMM sofware was used in the calculations. Kiefer & Chu (Chicago) Model was used, which is known to give effective results in short-term precipitations. The existing stormwater drainage system was examined, deficiencies and competences were determined. The hydraulic characteristics such as pyozometric elevations, flow rates and velocities in the overflow, pipes and menholes were obtained. In order to make the existing stormwater drainage system more suffiecient and efficient, pipe diameters and menholes have been recalculated using the conventional method of stormwater system and the required cost was analysed. As an alternative to this system, one of the design and applications of the sustainable modern stormwater management system which is detention ponds has been integrated into the existing stormwater infrastructure system and the calculations have been made again. Conventional and modern stormwater applications were compared in terms of cost and sustainability; It has been seen that the use of the retention ponds prevents the negativities like water overflows and saves 15% of the cost of the system.
