Abstract (EN)
Keywords: Modernism, postmodernism, fordism, organization theory, deconstruction This paper investigates how an alternative thinking style postmodernism answers the impasse that stemmed from the modern paradigm in the field of organization and management. For this reason, modernism and postmodernism are compared sociologically and epistemologically according to the paradigm shift criteria. Approached socioeconomically, the restrictive consequences of modern conditions become particularly clear in the period of industrialization in which rationalization of economic organizations (differentiation, centrality, hierarchy, normativeness) reaches its zenith.Due to bulkiness and obsolescence, cost increase engendering in bureaucratic organizations planned with the principle of excessive division of labour and consumer's demanding specific products and services rather than mass products and services make it extremely difficult relevant excessively rationalized growth in terms of organization. Developments in information and transportation technologies expand the field of competition and interchange (market) which causes integrated economic structure to become the field of complicated affairs based on free market competition. Normative and homogeneous 'rigid' organizations, which are the result of the patterns of the modern thought, cannot keep pace with the rapid communication economy of today's information era. For this reason, organizations should evolve into flexible organization forms that are able to execute self-organization (development) and put information and recources into practice learn them plus, be able to bring them together under the optimum conditions and at the maximum speed, just as small horizontal teams and networks. In the context of epistemology, the modem paradigm is based on the efforts of reducing all knowledge into unique logic system and integrating knowledge programs. Actually are in the fundamentals of modern paradigm the positivist approach which identifies reality beforehand by offering a single methodological framework, makes us perceive organization as a fixed structure, in this sense, the positivist approach removes organizations from the social and dynamic bases of reality. However, postmodern thought, considers organizations in the system of communication and socially constructed reality (id est language). Postmodernism emphasizes 'innovation and creativity' through highlighting individualism, plurality and multiple rationality and horizontal views by means of underlining various communication and knowledge forms such as vision, intuition, empathy, imagination and individual development. The modernist idea is normative in terms of borders and divides the knowledge and organization into rationalistic units (analysis, differentiation), whereas postmodernism, on both theory and practice, expands frontiers in both physical and intellectual universe by means of bringing flexibility to borders among disciplines and old boundaries of communication.
