Concepts such as rationalism, humanism, secularism and individualism have been the values that modernism has in. The world of Islam, which was greatly influenced by modernism with the change of all balances in favor of the West, faced with new conditions, the idea of showed its influence in all disciplines as well as in fields. The coups that the Islamic world has taken from the West have prompted Muslims to rethink the Qur'an and the search for the idea of Muslims has shown itself in various parts of the Islamic world. Along with the changes and transformations that the society has undergone in itşself, external factors have also played an active role in the activities of imterpreting the Qur'an and different trends have emerged regarding the interpretation of the Qur'an. One of these orientations is the Qur'aniyyun echol, which is systematized in the Indian subcontinent, later became an echol expressing its return to the Qur'an. This ecol, which approached the text centrist to the Qur'an and claimed that everything was in the Qur'an and opened is doors to the end of the te'vile, ciriticized the traditional approach. Another orientation is the historical interpretation of the Qur'an. This thoght, whose origin is from the West with its reputation, is expressed in contradictory names such as historicality, historical interpretation and historicalism. The perception of the issue in different ways by the researchers made the subject even more complicated. In the study, the issues raised by modernism, which often constitute the discussion agenda, were tried to be examined without diving into their details, and to determine the understanding of the echol about the Qur'an, based on the ideas of the echol members. In addition, our study focused on the possibilities and limitations of the historical interpretation in the interpretation of the Qur'an and how to take advantage of it.
