Abstract (EN)

In this study, the relationship between the concept of generative art, which points to the definition and production of the work of art, and the foundations of modernist abstract sculpture has been examined. In this context, the ability to define abstract works of art numerically, and with rules and the possibility of computers to produce art using rule-based systems was investigated. It is aimed to show that the feature of being generative, though having been referred to as "Generative Art" in the historical process, is an essential process even in traditional art production, therefore such a feature cannot be pointed out as a separate art field. On this basis, it has been seen that the digital generative production methods, referred to as Generative Art, can only be considered as a tool that can provide clarity to the production process, accelerate the production and support the stylistic progress of the artist.
