Özet (EN)

Modification Studies of Mediums used for the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.Tuberculosis is a disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that causes high morbidity and mortality. Approximately 2 billion people in the world is infected. Yearly, 9 million people get the disease and 2 million people die from this disease.Because M. tuberculosis is a slow growing bacteria, isolation of the bacteria by the diagnostic methods that use classical mediums needs 1-2 months. In this study, modifications of medium were tested using supplies easily provided with low cost.Four modified medium were prepared with apple, pea, carrot and potatoes. M. tuberculosis H37Rv and one isolate were inoculated in these four mediums and Lowenstein Jensen medium. Growth was observed in every three days. M. tuberculosis were successfully isolated from all these mediums. Growth was detected in 9 days in all the mediums; in potatoe medium growth was more pronounced. These new modified mediums with the characteristics of low cost and early colony forming could be alternatives for the mediums currently used.
