Modified hermite transformation for speech coding

In this thesis, we have implemented the Modified Hermite Transform for coding digitized speech samples. Hermite Transform yields energy compaction features close to DCT and is computationally much less complex than DCT. First, Modified Hermite Transform is applied to digitized speech samples. Next, transform coefficients are scalarly quantized to yield compressed speech data. Lastly, coded speech samples are transmitted over the communication channel. This thesis is presented as follows. In the second chapter transform coding isi presented in the broad sense and previous results are given. In the third chapter, the Modified Hermite Transform is introduced. In chapter four adaptive transform coding is presented. Finally in the last chapter a comparitive study of the orthonormal transforms is presented.
