The investigation of adsorption behaviour of the modified zirkonium oxide

Adsorption methot is one of the most effective methods used for the purchase of chemical contaminants in liquid wastes.In this study, the adsorption of uranium from aqueoussolutions was studied by using Zirconium - Magnesium based composite adsorbents. By adding NH4OH, Zr, Mg solutions and as a cationic surf actant hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide salt(HDTMA) to each other in different order, Zr/Mg/ HDTMA adsorbents have been synthesized using hydrothermal method. The characterizations of the synthesized adsorbents have been carried out through SEM, EDS, TGA, XRD, BET and Zeta potential analyses. Most effective synthesizedadsorbent was selected according to evaluation of data which were obtained from preliminary experiments. Then, adsorptionof uranium from aqueous solution on composite in a batch system has been studied by an adsorption technique. The parameters such as solution pH, initial uranium concentration, contact time and temperature that affect adsorption were investigated. Addition, distribution coefficient (Kd) and adsorption efficiencies (%) were calculated. In order to identify the adsorption process, adsorpti on data were applied by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models and thermodynamic parameters such as ?H, ?So and ?Gowere calculated by using temperature data. The results showed that the adsorption of uranium was described as isotherms of Langmuir monolayer and Freundlich types,endothermic, spontaneous and favorable.Different concentrations of CH3COONa, NaHCO3, NH4NO3, N H4Cl and H2SO4were used to desorption processes. The best desorption results for Zr/Mg/HDTMA- 6 were obtained as of 85 % and 80 % with and 0.05 M H2SO4 solution and 0,05M NaHCO3solution, respectively.
