Water is undoubtedly one of the most basic needs for vitality. However, decreasing water amount for various reasons poses a danger to life. Decreasing water resources worldwide increase concerns. Industry branches are one of the most important and biggest factors in this field in terms of the amount of water used. Industrial areas that use paint, in particular, cause large amounts of water loss due to difficulties in the treatment of wastewater they disclose. In this study, biosorption of reactive yellow-160 dyestuffs belonging to reactive dye class, which is used in high quantities in textile industry, is investigated by modified cranberry biomass. The waste cranberry pulp formed after the construction of marmalade and / or cospost is used as biosorbent. Since the RY-160 removal percentage of raw cranberry biomass was low, modification treatments were applied on biomass. The biosorption capacity was increased by modification. Acetone treatment was preferred where the highest removal was achieved, and in the ongoing experiments, acetone modified biomass was used. The effects of temperature, pH, initial dye concentration and biomass on the biosorption process were investigated in the scope of the study. In optimum experiments conditions, 94.94% of the RS-160 dyestuffs in wastewater were removed. The experimental data obtained from the studies were investigated in compliance with some kinetic and isotherm models and it was observed that the biosorption of RS-160 dye was in line with the pseudo-second kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm model.The results show that modified waste cranberry biomass has a low cost and that reactive yellow-160 dyestuff can be used as a effective biosorbent for removal from wastewater.
