Özet (EN)
The first alkyd resin was produced in 1847 and still continues today. Alkyd resins are the most common solvent-based binders used in various directions to be modified with oil or fatty acids. High molecular weight modified alkyd resins consisting of polyol, dibasic acid and fatty acid esterification reaction are found to be very flexible and versatile (high compatibility rate with other polymers). Dehydrated castor oil (DCO) is a sustainable raw material used in alkyd resin production in terms of being biodegradable and renewable. In a short time, high resistance to drying, chemicals, high yellowing resistance, durability, as well as meeting ecologically necessary standards. Molecular weight and viscosity are very important parameters for resin production. Controllability is important, both in terms of standardization and safety of production and performance affecting paint. In this study, alkyd resin was synthesized with 3 different production processes. As one of the parameters that most affect the molecular weight and viscosity of alkyd resin, resin was synthesized at different temperature increases. General tests of modified alkyd resin were made according to TSE standards. Molecular weight measurement was done with GPC equipment. Paint was produced with modified alkyd resin. General tests of the paint were done according to TSE standard. The effect of modified alkyd resin synthesized by different production processes on paint performance was examined.
