Natural elements in the miniature paintings of Molla Cami's 'Haft Awrang'manuscript

In this thesis named 'Natural Elements in the Miniature paintings of Molla Câmi's 'Haft Avrang' Manuscript', an important style of miniature painting of 16th century Safavid era has been studied. The aim of the study was not only about introducing 'Haft Awrang' which reflects the style of the era, but aslo about examining the natural elements seen thorougly in miniature applications in terms of characteristics of scription and application techniques in this form. Within the framework of the study, natural elements in the Haft Awrang's miniatures were classified (trees, flowers and bushes, rocks and Stones and clouds) and an examination was conducted over how these elements were created figurally and in a detailed way. Within the framework of this thesis, two applications were carried out. Within the first application, all the natural elements included in miniatures were drawn thoroughly and drawing of selected natural elements' outer lines and their position in the miniature were shown visually. In the second application by using most of the natural elements from 26 of the full page 28 miniatures, which were grouped under seven titles from writings, seven different designs were made separately for each title. In order to fit appropriately to page design, edges of the pages were completed with three different designs according to halkâr technique. The design were made on murakka with gold, gouache and watercolor. This thesis consists of three parts. In the first part detailed information is given about life of Molla Cami ( 1414-1492), his products and physical and literature features of his subject to be, Haft Awrang. In the second part, selected natural elements are drawn in a detailed and in an outer way, and their positions in the miniature are given and examined. In the third part, seven designs are conducted.
