Abstract (EN)

Making the theoretical examination and evaluation phases in Turkey takes high time expenditure and high costs. A new examination system which reduce time expenditure and costs was urgently needed; therefore, an electronic examination system application has passed. The use of the developing technology in the field of education ensures that the examination and evaluation phase can be done quickly. For these reasons, a new examination system started to be implemented with the name of Motor Vehicle Driver Trainee Examination (MTSKS) as well as Motor Vehicle Driver Trainee Electronic Examination (MTSKES) made by the Ministry of National Education (MEB). Candidates should be successful in one of these two exam systems in order to get a driver's license. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between MTSKS average scores and MTSKES mean scores of driver candidates who were tested to get a driver's license and to compare MTSKS and MTSKES mean scores according to sex, age, certificate type and Statistical Region Units Classification (NUTS Level-1). T-test analysis was applied according to gender. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for age, certificate type and NUTS Level-1 variables. Analyzes were done with IBM SPSS program. The survey's universe constitutes 186.721 driver candidates who entered MTSKS on 20 May 2017 and 287.011 driver candidates who entered MTSKES in 2017. It has been determined that the test made in the paper-pencil environment has a lower score average in all the variables compared to the test made in the computer environment. It is considered that examinations made in the computer environment are a better examination system in terms of candidates entering the examination as well as exam application, reading, evaluation and hiding of data, and it is suggested that the electronic examination system be widespread in our country.
