Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to examine the effects of low and high field magnetic resonance applications on phase changes and mercury release from high copper dental amalgam using XRD and XPS methods respectively.Disk shaped, 5mmx1mm sized 126 samples of amalgam were prepared. All samples were thermocycled for 1000 cycles via electronic thermal cycler. Samples were divided into 3 groups as 0.2T, 1.5T and control group.Totally 90 samples in 3 groups, each containing 30 samples were examined by XRD method for phase determination and totally 36 samples in 3 groups, each containing 12 samples were examined by XPS method for surface mercury amount determination. XRD and XPS analysis groups of the samples were again divided into 3 groups in which the samples were examined 1st, 7th and 30th days after magnetic field exposures. The relation between ?, ?1, ?? and Hg peak intensities observed by XRD method, were analyzed using ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis tests and no statistically differences were found (p>0.05).The relation between atomic percent of mercury observed by XPS method were analyzed using Kruskal Wallis test and no statistically differences were found (p>0.05).Time following magnetic field exposure related differences for ?, ?1, ?? and Hg peak intensities and mercury atomic percent of magnetic field exposed groups were analyzed using Friedman test and no statistically differences were found (p>0.05).According to the results of the study it can be concluded that static magnetic field exposure doesn?t cause any difference in dental amalgam structure.
