Examination of sports success with biopsychosocial factors in fighting and combat sports

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to investigate the biopsychosocial factors and sports success in combat and combat sports.The research group of the study consisted of a total of 10 active and retired volunteers engaged in 5 wrestling, 2 boxing, 2 judo and 1 athletics sports. Content and thematic analysis from qualitative research methods were used in the study. A semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used as a data collection tool. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with the participants in the study group and audio recordings were made after obtaining their permission. Data analysis was evaluated by descriptive and content analysis method. In our research proposal, there are interview questions consisting of three parts: demographic characteristics of the participants, athlete background information and biopsychosocial characteristics. In the first part, there are 6 questions including demographic information of the participants such as age, education level, marital status, occupation, father's occupation; in the second part, there are 6 questions including athlete history such as place of starting sports, age of starting sports, years of active sports, best sports degree, age of achieving the best sports degree; and in the third part, there are 17 questions in total (biological 4 questions, psychological 7 questions and social characteristics 6 questions) determining biopsychosocial characteristics. The records obtained were documented and analyzed. Themes, categories and codes were obtained from the research data. According to the findings obtained in the research, the participants stated that their fitness level was good, belief, agility, psychological state, technical feature, necessity to achieve status, quickness were among the features that made them superior to their competitors. Participants also showed self-confidence, motivation, strategy development against opponents, belief in winning, national feelings, determination and obligation, etc. it is very important for a combat and combat athlete to be at the top of the podium in championships. In addition to these, the participants stated that different climate, culture, attitudes and behaviors of people do not affect their success, but the characteristics of the opponent, attitudes and behaviors of coaches and administrators, referees, inexperience affect success in championships. As a result of the research, it can be said that there is a relationship between biopsychosocial factors and sports success in combat and combat sports. Dec.
