Özet (EN)

Folk medicine can be regarded as an alternative medicine method that has implications for mental disorders as well as physical ones and has been around for hundreds of years. Folk medicine, which can be described as the methods that people employ in order to treat their diseases because they don't go to a doctor for it is beyond their means or for other reasons, has been observed among Turks throughout the history. The notion of folk medicine has arisen with the aid of many ways of treatment that have been brought from Central Asia. The practices used in Turkish medicine then merged with the cultures and traditions in Anatolia and became more comprehensive with Islam. The migrations that took place toward the west caused the crops and plants to vary and diversify according to the seasons and the climate. In our day we encounter in Anatolian folk medicine practices used in Central Asia. In the Mudurnu area of Bolu, too, environmental factors, climatic conditions and the state of illnesses have naturally brought together a range of practices, and folk healers, with trial and error, have come up with solutions for both physical and mental disorders. Practices of folk medicine have been continuing locally except medical applications. In this study folk medicine, which is still an ongoing practice in the Mudurnu area, Bolu, has been included in the final section in the context of the answers given by the local people. Key Words: Mudurnu, Folk Medicine, Mudurnu Area, Treatment
